Rhinebeck Crew kicked off the 2016 season this past weekend with our annual fundraising event, Rock the Boat, as well as the team’s first meet at the Poughkeepsie boathouse.
It was the first opportunity for the team to get their feet wet in real competition. All of the Rhinebeck boats performed with promise, highlighted by the Senior Girls 4 boat placing third in their meet.
The Sunday morning races were preceded by a festive fundraising party Saturday night. The Rock the Boat Dance Party raised much needed funds and was extraordinarily fun for the team, its supporters and the greater Rhinebeck community. Thanks to everyone for your support!
Thanks also to all of those who helped make the dance party a success. In particular the party committee, Alison Vaccarino, Maria Youle, Sarah Hill, Michele Entner, Tami Zepnick, and Matt Lortie. And a very special thanks to both Tim Callahan and Linda Brandon (Lortie) who worked tirelessly and without whose efforts this event would not have come together at all.
Rhinebeck Crew is an entirely volunteer effort. The tremendous positive support and constructive contribution from everyone help make Rhinebeck Crew a valuable part of our student athlete’s growth and experience.
Here’s to a succesful and supportive 2016 season!
